Job opportunities increase by huge amounts when we realize that many of the barriers we face are within. His Holiness the Dalai Lama proclaimed to a stunned crowd at a Vancouver Peace Summit, “The world will be saved by the Western Woman.” Which I believe is true, but only when the Western Woman learns to save herself. Women face barriers to employment that are not only external but internal. Lack of self worth, inability to negotiate for salary, putting others needs ahead of their own. The “glass ceiling” resides within as well as outside ourselves. When women embrace their “Inside Job” they let go of the myths and habits of thought that have held them back financially and professionally for way too long. Happy Mother’s day to all women everywhere, and remember to increase those job opportunities by looking within and raising those ceilings!
